$1M bond set for Akron police officer arrested on child pornography charges

Akron police officer Geoffrey Parker, who is facing child pornography charges, appeared for his arraignment in Niles Municipal Court on Wednesday.

Parker pleaded not guilty to the six counts against him and bond was set at $1 million. He remains in the Trumbull County Jail and his case will be bound over to a grand jury.

The charges against Parker include obscenity of a minor and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

According to Akron police, Parker was arrested on Aug. 16, at around 9 p.m. by members of the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Following the arrest, Parker was taken to the Summit County Jail.
